The security officer will ensure the safety and security of visitors, tenants, and employees at the Brooklyn Navy Yard while providing excellent customer service at various posts throughout the Navy Yard.
Responsibilities
- Be aware of, and inspect, post(s) or section(s) for conditions requiring attention; and report immediately to the supervisor and the Command Center any unusual crime, occurrence, accident or condition
- Render all necessary service in assigned area and as directed
- Familiarize self with the everyday routine of individuals doing business or frequenting post or section
- Investigate suspicious conditions on the post
- Give attention to hazardous conditions
- Maintain an activity log and completes daily reports
- Monitor radio
- Be responsible for, become familiar with, and have a working knowledge of Post Orders
- Be governed by CPR, Courtesy, Professionalism, and Respect
Job Requirements
Required Skills and Abilities
- Good writing and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills
Qualifications
- 8-hour Security Training Certificate required (Security License required within 90 days of hire); Security License preferred
- Valid NYS Driver’s License required
