Responsibilities
Fire Sprinkler Inspectors will inspect and test various types of water-based fire suppression systems located throughout the five boroughs of NYC in order to identify Fire Code violations and prescribe the necessary corrective actions. Inspections and tests will include but may not be limited to weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, 3 year and 5 year, annual fire pump performance tests, and FDNY witnessed 5 year tests. Inspectors must have a friendly and professional disposition, be organized and self-disciplined, and be physically capable of walking long durations of time, climbing up and down stairs, and lifting and carrying equipment. Inspectors may also be required to perform supervised minor maintenance and repairs.
Job Requirements
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Ability to stand, or climb stairs and ladders for a long period of time
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to adapt to new programs and applications for uploading reports
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Certificate of Fitness for S12 and S13 is needed and will help to obtain.
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)
- Organizational Skills: 1 year (Preferred)
- Safe work practices: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Preferred)
- S-12 (Preferred)
