Regional Environment Health Safety Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional EHS Manager to oversee environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance across multiple corrugated manufacturing facilities in California, Illinois, and Texas. The ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing background and in-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations, including Cal-OSHA and environmental regulations related to hazardous waste, industrial wastewater, stormwater, air permitting, and EPCRA Tier II. This role requires a proactive approach to managing EHS programs and ensuring regulatory compliance while fostering a culture of safety within the organization.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs and policies across multiple manufacturing facilities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state (Cal-OSHA), and local regulations related to occupational health, safety, and environmental protection.
- Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Manage hazardous waste programs, including proper handling, storage, and disposal practices.
- Oversee industrial wastewater, stormwater, and air permitting processes, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Prepare and submit EPCRA Tier II reports and other required documentation.
- Provide EHS training and support to facility managers and employees to promote a safe working environment.
- Investigate EHS incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with facility management to develop and implement safety improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to EHS activities and compliance.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state (Cal-OSHA) regulations and environmental laws.
- Experience with hazardous waste management, industrial wastewater, stormwater, air permitting, and EPCRA Tier II reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
- Ability to travel locally up to 45% of the time, with limited regional travel as needed.
- Certification in EHS disciplines (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred but not required.
