
Safety Manager
Job Description
Roy Miller Freight Lines, LLC., is looking for a Safety Manager to maintain our Safety programs.
We are an LTL carrier operating with terminals throughout California.
Medical Insurance within the first 30 days. No premium cost for the employee’s own coverage.
Once eligible for Medical, the employee gets a employer provided term life insurance policy at no cost (while employed).
40 hours of sick pay a year, eligible after the first 90 days.
Pay is Bi-Weekly and Direct Deposit is available.
Job Type: Salary Full-time Exempt
Pay: $80,000 - $90,000 annually

Responsibilities
Job Summary:
- Provide leadership to promote continuous improvement of company safety programs and meet safety goals
- Prepare and conduct safety training and programs with company personnel
- Identify opportunities to improve safety performance and provide routine communication to all employees on company safety policies and procedures to include safety program rollout and improvement
- Develop and coach personnel to meet company safety standards, lead mandatory compliance training and promote safety performance improvement
- Promptly investigate safety accidents/injuries to train involved individuals and report to the appropriate parties.
· Conduct safety audits to ensure compliance
· Manage and administer company Worker’s Compensation program
· Travel throughout the region to ensure compliance within the terminal locations and interact extensively with drivers and employees
· Responsible for Recruiting Management
· Conduct monthly/quarterly safety meetings with company employees
· Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
- 5 years of experience with transportation safety management, accident/injury prevention programs, hazardous material regulations, DOT, FMCSR knowledge, OSHA regulations, insurance claim management, work comp and compliance.
- Available to work a various shifts, to include days, evenings, nights and weekends
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of basic computer systems to include Microsoft Office
- Strong problem-solving and reasoning ability
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to motivate people to participate in Safety programs
- Travel as needed up to 25% of the time
- A valid driver's license (CDL preferred)
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Transportation or Safety, or 5 years of equivalent work experience
- Presentation skills and experience for training and collaboration with drivers, dock, office personnel and peers
- Emergency response experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Behavior-based safety training experience
- Possess the ability to maintain multiple tasks and projects
- AS400, TCP, GEOTAB experience
