We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Manager to oversee and enhance our workplace safety programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, developing training programs, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization. This role is pivotal in minimizing risks and promoting health and safety standards across all operations.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effectively promote a company-wide proactive safety culture by working closely with leadership to establish the systems, processes, and tools to continuously improve overall safety performance.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Develop and maintain facility and equipment inspection procedures and coordinate a schedule of routine inspections.
  • Organize and conduct regular safety training sessions for employees to educate them on safe work practices and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine their root causes and develop corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Perform regular safety audits and inspections of equipment, machinery, and work areas to ensure they meet safety standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of all safety-related activities, including training sessions, incident reports, inspections, and equipment maintenance logs.
  • Work closely with various departments to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement in all safety-related practices.
  • Prepare and present safety reports to management, highlighting key metrics, incidents, and areas for improvement.
  • Manage all workers' compensation and vehicle claims, including investigation, reporting, OSHA logs, etc.
  • Develop and manage the company's hazardous waste program, including monitoring hazardous waste storage, disposal, and any required records and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain an environmental stewardship program to continuously improve our carbon footprint and material recycling.
  • Be available periodically on off-shifts and weekends for incident response, training, or meetings.

Job Requirements

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment and hazard identification techniques
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs and training
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Ability to prepare and deliver effective training curriculum, presentations, and materials to individual and group settings for all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools
  • Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, ASP, CIH) is a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and promote a culture of safety
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Experience in emergency preparedness and response planning
  • Broad knowledge in 29 CFR 1910, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
  • Expected 40% plant-to-plant travel for incident investigations, training, or inspection
  • Experience with DOT fleet safety management
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
