Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Effectively promote a company-wide proactive safety culture by working closely with leadership to establish the systems, processes, and tools to continuously improve overall safety performance.
- Create and maintain comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Develop and maintain facility and equipment inspection procedures and coordinate a schedule of routine inspections.
- Organize and conduct regular safety training sessions for employees to educate them on safe work practices and compliance with safety regulations.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine their root causes and develop corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Perform regular safety audits and inspections of equipment, machinery, and work areas to ensure they meet safety standards.
- Maintain detailed records of all safety-related activities, including training sessions, incident reports, inspections, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Work closely with various departments to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement in all safety-related practices.
- Prepare and present safety reports to management, highlighting key metrics, incidents, and areas for improvement.
- Manage all workers' compensation and vehicle claims, including investigation, reporting, OSHA logs, etc.
- Develop and manage the company's hazardous waste program, including monitoring hazardous waste storage, disposal, and any required records and reporting.
- Develop and maintain an environmental stewardship program to continuously improve our carbon footprint and material recycling.
- Be available periodically on off-shifts and weekends for incident response, training, or meetings.
Job Requirements
Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and hazard identification techniques
- Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs and training
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Ability to prepare and deliver effective training curriculum, presentations, and materials to individual and group settings for all levels of the organization
- Proficiency in using safety management software and tools
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, ASP, CIH) is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and promote a culture of safety
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Experience in emergency preparedness and response planning
- Broad knowledge in 29 CFR 1910, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
- Expected 40% plant-to-plant travel for incident investigations, training, or inspection
- Experience with DOT fleet safety management
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
