PACO Group, Inc. (PACO) is seeking an experienced Fire Protection/Plumbing Engineer to support the Design Standards Unit for the Port Authority (PA) facilities. The selected individual will play a key role in reviewing fire protection and plumbing design documents for tenant projects (TAA) and design audits. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of building codes, fire protection/plumbing systems, and the ability to manage project compliance with technical standards and regulations. The role involves coordinating with various technical disciplines, engaging with tenant architects/engineers, and ensuring smooth project processing and communication between PA facilities and in-house reviewers.

Scope of Work
Under the supervision of the Design Standards Unit Manager and the Assistant Manager, the Fire Protection/Plumbing Engineerwill be responsible for review fire protection/plumbing design documents, for tenant projects (TAA) and design audit, and project processing for Port Authority (PA) facilities to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and Port Authority technical standards. Specific responsibilities include: downloading the electronic TAA submissions, previewing construction documents, hydraulic calculations, specifications, and reports for completeness with codes and standards; coordinating the review comments from others technical disciplines and preparing memoranda for transmitting comments to the line departments; and attending meeting with tenant Architect/Engineer of Records to discuss the review comments and resolve the issues; assigning various technical disciplines for code review, and communicating with PA facilities to process TAA and design audit projects.

The Fire Protection/Plumbing Engineer must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/fire protection engineering
- Minimum of five (5) years of diverse experience in building fire protection/plumbing codes and systems.
- Proper understanding of fire protection/plumbing disciplines related to building design and construction of transportation and related facilities
- Strong and effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Comfortable acting as liaison between PA Tenants & Facilities and in-house application reviewers to ensure smooth workflow
- Comprehensive computer skills, proficient in MS Suite, and ability & interest to learn various in-house and external software (Share Point, eBuilder, etc.)
- Professional engineer’s license in State of New York and/or New Jersey
