Senior Fire Consultant (Forensic Fire/Explosion Division)
Job Description
Certified Fire Investigator / Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFI/CFEI) responsible for analyzing and interpreting fire and explosion scenes.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
• Perform all required analysis and work necessary to determine the cause and origin of fires and explosion incidents.
• Convey findings and conclusions to others in a clear and concise manner, typically through written reports.
• Defend opinions in court or litigious settings when necessary.
• Complete required corporate training and development programs.
Decision Making/Interaction:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience with writing detailed investigation reports is highly preferred.
• Must have superior customer service skills.
• Must always conduct business in an honest and ethical fashion.
• Must meet or exceed company aptitude standards regarding computer and technical proficiency.
• Must have the ability to work efficiently with little or no supervision.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
• Degree or some college coursework is preferred but not required.
• Must have at minimum of CFEI certification through NAFI, CFI certification through IAAI (preferred).
• Must be familiar with NFPA 921.
• Must meet all the requirements for qualification as a fire investigator per NFPA 1033.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Previous expert testimony or deposition experience highly preferred but not required.
• Must be well organized with the ability to deliver fast and accurate turnaround times.
• Must be able to handle multiple project workload and periods of high stress, especially during times of peak business demand.
• Must be hands on and able to climb ladders and roofs, crawl in tight spaces, etc. as needed to perform investigations.
• Will work projects that are assigned to them unless sufficient hazards are identified utilizing OCI’s Safety Protocol guidelines.
• Meet all standards for pre-employment physical examination.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the firm’s guidelines.
Experience:
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience working in the public and/or private sectors performing fire origin & cause investigations on residential and commercial structures.
Special Requirements/Certifications:
• Must have a CFEI certification through NAFI, or CFI certification through IAAI (preferred).
• Must be willing to travel and/or work a flexible schedule during periods of peak demand.
• Must have the willingness to work remotely and from home office.
• Must have employee-provided, high-speed internet that is reliable and accessible at remote office.

• Ability to frequently talk or hear on a telephone and receive detailed information through oral communication is required.
• Exertion up to 20 pounds of force is occasionally required and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Visual activity requirements are those of Clerical Administrative. This is a minimum standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, computer terminal, extensive reading, operation of machines, and using measurement devices.
