Compensation:

$100,700 - $142,929 (Grade C, 677 Hay points)

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for formulating, coordinating and administering a comprehensive fire prevention and fire safety program whose goals are to eliminate or minimize the likelihood of employee/customer injuries and fatalities as well as damage to NYCT property, due to fire. The incumbent will manage a staff of Fire Safety Specialists responsible for ensuring that the highest practical levels of Fire and Life Safety are incorporated into transit operations. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing fire statistics and will be responsible for responding to and conducting cause and origin investigation for fires that occur within the system. Additionally, responsible for coordination with city and state fire officials on emergency preparedness and other fire protection requirements.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

A Baccalaureate degree in Fire Protection, Engineering, or a related physical science from an accredited college or university, and 10 years practical experience relating to fire protection, incident investigation and management of which 5 years must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity, or

A satisfactory equivalent.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of the Building Codes of New York State.
  • Knowledge of NY City Fire Prevention Code.
  • Knowledge of NY City Fire Department Rules & Regulations.
  • Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association standards.
  • Strong written/verbal communications skills.
  • Practical knowledge and application of Computer applications.
  • New York State Certified Fire Investigator.

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
