The Fire Watch position is critical in ensuring safety during hot work operations, such as welding or cutting, where there is a risk of fire. The Fire Watch will be responsible for monitoring the work area, identifying potential fire hazards, and taking immediate action to prevent fires. This role requires vigilance, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond swiftly in emergency situations.

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person

Responsibilities

*Duties*

- Monitor designated work areas for signs of fire hazards during hot work operations.

- Maintain a clear line of sight to the work being performed and ensure proper safety protocols are followed.

- Use fire extinguishing equipment and other safety tools as necessary.

- Communicate effectively with workers and supervisors about potential hazards or unsafe conditions.

- Conduct regular inspections of the area to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

- Document any incidents or near misses and report them to the supervisor promptly.

- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions as required.

Job Requirements

*Experience*

- Previous experience in a safety-related role is preferred but not mandatory.

- Familiarity with fire safety protocols and emergency response procedures is a plus.

- Strong observational skills and attention to detail are essential for identifying potential hazards.

- Ability to remain calm under pressure and act decisively in emergency situations.

- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members and supervisors.

This role is vital in maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring that all safety measures are adhered to during potentially hazardous operations.

Hours will be set by client at the start of this project. Generally the hours will be between 4AM and 4PM, Monday through Friday.
