EH&S Specialist
Job Description
Macedon, NYJK Executive Strategies has partnered exclusively with *Baldwin Richardson Foods* (BRF), in its search for an EH&S Specialist in Macedon, NY. The EHS Specialist will provide support to employees regarding safety protocols and procedures as well as participate in environmental projects and programs, to ensure safety compliance and regulatory requirements. The EHS is the first point of contact for incident investigations and participates in root cause analysis.BRF has strong supply relationships with some of the world’s largest Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Quick Service Restaurants (QSR), and Food Service customers. Baldwin Richardson Foods is experiencing a period of rapid growth due to both successful relationships with existing customers and a rapid influx of new customers. To enable continued growth, they have kicked off a company-wide transformation, touching everything from the way they look for and at commercial opportunities to the way they manufacture and deliver products for their existing customers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and delivery of employee monthly safety training on a variety of safety and environmental topics.
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of training to all employees across all functions.
- Conduct monthly, facility-wide inspections and assist in identifying unsafe working conditions (i.e., eyewash, emergency lighting, emergency exits, etc.)
- Assist in incident investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and help to determine corrective actions.
- Responsible for collecting data and preparing environmental reports for outside agencies such as EPA, DEC, etc.
- Represent the EHS department during new-employee orientations and deliver original, basic safety training to those new employees.
- Review and enhance reporting capability utilizing incident reporting software.
- Maintaining proper levels of PPE Equipment at the site.
- Maintain the employee suggestion box and the tracking spreadsheet of employee safety contributions.
- Perform risk assessments (Job Safety Analysis).
- Assist in the development of safety and environmental inspection checklist forms and administer them across the Macedon plant.
- Ensure that all operations are conducted by all existing federal, state, and local EHS regulations and company policies and procedures, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA.
- Ensure contractors are properly trained in the BR Foods safety policies and procedures before they begin any on-site projects.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related program, accompanied by a minimum of 6 months of relevant internship experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to educating others on health and safety in a manufacturing context.
- Strong interpersonal skills, emphasizing compassion for effective communication across diverse cultures.
- Ability to confidently present to small groups.
- Dedication to ongoing education and training.
- Familiarity with hazard/exposure identification, auditing, and inspections; EHS training program requirements; OSHA, EPA, and regulatory submissions; and record-keeping requirements. Experience in action-item projects is advantageous.
- Proven track record in delivering safety program-related training.
- Background in a manufacturing environment.
- Transferable knowledge of OSHA regulations, including OSHA 10, with a preference for OSHA 30 certification.
- Knowledge and/or experience in the Food Industry is strongly preferred.
