The EHS Manager plays a crucial role in leading the Company's operating units by developing, implementing, and overseeing environment, health, and safety programs and policies. With subject matter expertise, the EHS Manager solves unique and complex EHS issues and recommends suitable solutions or alternatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to plant personnel in assigned business units to ensure compliance with regulatory programs such as H&S practices, operating permits, and EHS Standard Operating Procedures.
- Develop and oversee Health & Safety programs and initiatives for the fleet.
- Manage EHS audits and peer safety review processes.
- Participate in the development and implementation of corporate policies, management, and governance controls, including document management, audit functions, and quality improvement.
- Manage and provide technical oversight of environmental programs, including CAA, CWA, SDWA, EPCRA, CERCLA, RCRA, and OSHA.
- Contribute to permit application preparation for environmental permit renewals and modification projects.
- Stay up-to-date with new and changing regulatory requirements, and form and lead multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient EHS policies and practices comply with existing and new/revised regulations.
- Lead by example and actively engage in the professional development of Corporate and Plant EHS personnel.
- Participate in due diligence efforts related to M&A activities.
- Assist as a Business Administrator for the Benchmark Gensuite EHS compliance system.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- A minimum of ten years of experience in the EHS field, with over five years of experience in corporate or regional management roles.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with Clean Air Act programs, air permit compliance, and continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS).
- General regulatory knowledge in other environmental disciplines (e.g., CWA, SDWA, EPCRA, CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA) and health and safety (e.g. OSHA).
- Preferred strong background in health and safety and a track record of driving safety culture improvements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within and outside the organization. Skilled team player with a history of building consensus with internal and external parties.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and issues simultaneously and perform assigned responsibilities at a high level, even in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on achieving results and strategic thinking and planning.

- This role will require 15-30% travel to the plant sites.
