Fire Suppression Systems Designer

In this role, you will design, develop, and oversee the installation of fire suppression systems to ensure the safety and protection of life and property. This is a full-time, in-office position where you will work closely with project teams to deliver high-quality designs and collaborate with contractors for proper system installation and operation.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design life safety and asset protection systems using AutoCAD and proprietary software, ensuring compliance with local, national, and manufacturer standards.
  • Direct contractors during system installation and ensure proper operation according to design specifications.
  • Conduct on-site surveys to ensure accurate system design and successful installation.
  • Review and interpret project specifications provided by customers to implement them effectively.
  • Attend manufacturer training sessions and other professional development opportunities to stay current with industry standards.
  • Create project-specific operation and maintenance manuals to support system functionality.
  • Update and maintain existing drawings for system improvements or modifications.
  • Adhere to company and customer safety policies throughout the design and installation process.
  • Assist office staff with engineering-related tasks, including process improvements and system documentation.
  • Provide support in system inspections, maintenance, startups, and commissioning when necessary.

Job Requirements

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D drafting and familiarity with 3D design software.
  • Solid understanding of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Effective communication skills to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Eagerness to learn and stay up-to-date with industry standards and regulations.
  • Willingness to study for and obtain NICET certification.
  • Self-motivated with a desire for continuous improvement in processes and design methods.
