Regional Safety Manager
Job Description
Leader in the tank-truck industry is seeking Regional Safety Manger for the Northeast region with home base at one of our New Jersey Terminals. The Regional Safety Manger assists in the planning, development and coordinating the safety and occupational health component of personnel, materials, equipment and environments to achieve safety effectiveness for the company. This is a full-time, salaried exempt position, 40+ hours per week which may include weekends and holidays. Must have the availability to travel by car, airplane and other means to locations anywhere in the United States when needed.
Responsibilities
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts road observations, driver contacts and customer site inspections.
- Assist Safety Director in preparing, revising and updating Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Provide support to terminals in implementing Safety P&Ps.
- Ensures that federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed, recorded, and reported as required.
- Ensures that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met.
- Monitors activities where accidents could occur, halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel, environment or equipment.
- Perform terminal safety/compliance audits and inspections to evaluate compliance with Safety P&Ps. Work with operations, maintenance and other departments to assist in implementing corrective actions if needed.
- Assist with investigations of safety incidents and accidents to determine root causes and install preventive measures.
- Be on call to handle accidents, coordinate emergency response, communicate with Corporate Safety.
- Assists in risk management responsibilities as assigned by the Safety Director.
- Holds quarterly safety meetings at assigned locations.
- Performs other related duties as required by Senior Management.

Job Requirements
Knowledge and Requirements
- B.S. degree with 4 to 5 years of safety experience in transportation industry; may consider experience in lieu of education.
- Preferred 5 years prior experience in tank truck safety.
- Extensive knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, EPA, OSHA regulations.
- Knowledge of safety principles and concepts and loss prevention and reduction.
- Knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures and investigative skills.
- Good organizational skills and leadership ability.
- Must possess the ability to make presentations to both employees and customers.
- Knowledge of cargo tank truck equipment.
- Excellent people skills.
- Proficient in using software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Able to travel up to 70% of the time.
