Construction Safety Manager
Job Description
Introduction: With multiple locations and nearly 150 employees our company is a leading provider of infrastructure services to telecom, municipal and electric cooperative customers throughout the Southeast.
Objective: Provide safety leadership, ensure compliance with all health and safety standards (OSHA, DOT, etc.), implement safety directives, identify safety hazards and establish workplace policies, communicate safety guidance, support occupational health and safety, and report key safety metrics on a weekly (internal) and monthly (external) basis.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
§ Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
§ Document all safety policies and procedures, including updating the Safety Manual and Employee Handbook
§ Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
§ Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention consistent with Company policies and OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory guidelines
§ Standardize safety policies and procedures across multiple locations
§ Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
§ Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
§ Lead insurance claims reviews and renewals (worker’s compensation and auto) including investigating accidents or injuries to discover causes
§ Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures
§ Report health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics to the VP Operations and Board of Directors
Job Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
§ Proven experience as safety manager
§ Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines with emphasis on OSHA and DOT requirements and guidelines
§ Experience implementing and creating policies and procedures
§ Ability to produce reports and develop key safety metrics
§ Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
§ Excellent organizational and motivational skills
§ Good written and verbal communication skills
§ Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
§ Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
§ BS/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred
§ Additional licenses and certifications a plus
Travel:
§ Extensive travel throughout the Carolinas required; 25% or more
