Firefighter​/Firefighter Paramedic​/Experienced

Anaheim Fire Academy / Probation Period:

Age & Education:
Graduation from high school or its equivalent. Must be 18 years of age by date of appointment.

Experience and Training:
An equivalent combination of experience and training sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. An ideal candidate will be currently employed in California as a paid full-time firefighter / firefighter paramedic, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a firefighter with a government agency by August 30, 2024.

Examples of government experience includes: cities, counties, special districts/authorities, tribal, and state and federal government.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Graduation from a California Office of the Fire Marshal State Fire Training accredited Firefighter I Academy. (). If your program is not listed, it is your responsibility to obtain documentation from the California Office of the Fire Marshal stating your program's accreditation.
• State of California certification as an Emergency Medical Technician I and Defibrillation. If a paramedic, a valid State of California Paramedic Licensure.
• A current American Heart Association CPR certification.
• A valid Class "C" California Driver's License with Firefighter endorsement must be obtained by the end of the probationary period and maintained thereafter.
• Attend Anaheim’s Biddle Physical Ability Test through Santa Ana College on October 5, 2024 at Central Net Training Center in Huntington Beach. Candidates unable to attend the Anaheim Biddle,
  must provide proof of successfully completing a Biddle Physical Agility Test with a completion time of 8:02min or faster between the dates of February 29, 2024 – October 14, 2024. Other Biddle (Physical Agility Test) dates are available at Santa Ana College on September 22, 2024 or October 13, 2024. Other locations throughout California are acceptable.

Proof of all required documents/certifications/licenses listed above must be attached to the application. Those who do not attach required documents will not be considered for the position.

Highly Desired Qualifications:

• Possession of an Orange County Emergency Medical Services (OCEMS) accreditation
• Possession of a Hazardous Material First Responder Operations Certificate (FRO)
• Possession of a Rescue Systems 1 Certificate (RSI)
• S-190, Introduction to Wildland Fire Behaviors Certificate
• Low Angle Rope Rescue Certificate (LARRO)
• Confined Space Awareness Certificate
• Bilingual skills (speak, read, and/or write)
