Role Summary: As the Safety Director, you will spearhead our safety initiatives, leading a team of safety professionals to ensure the highest safety standards across all our divisions. This role is integral to our mission, requiring a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to implementing safety protocols, ensuring compliance, and fostering a culture of safety company wide.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety policies and procedures across the company, aligning with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and expand the safety department, promoting a proactive approach to safety management.
- Conduct and oversee regular safety audits, risk assessments, and job safety analyses to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with all levels of management to integrate safety measures into operational practices, driving continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters, including regulatory compliance, employee training, and emergency response planning.
- Develop and deliver training programs that enhance safety awareness and preparedness among employees.
- Analyze safety metrics and reports to track performance and identify trends, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Work closely with Operations and Human Resources to ensure strict adherence to safety standards.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in safety management, occupational health, engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional safety certification is a plus.
- Extensive experience in safety management roles within construction, maritime, or related industries, demonstrating a successful track record in reducing accidents and fostering a safety culture.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, MSHA, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a team towards achieving safety objectives.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in safety management systems and software.
