Job Description
Job Summary: The Senior Fire Alarm Service Technician is highly experienced in fire alarm service, maintenance, and inspections. They have advanced skills at communicating and managing others while also being able to complete field work, inspections, system programming and commissioning. They also have a good understanding of the hardware and software associated with special fire alarm systems equipment. The senior fire alarm service technician understands basic theory behind fire systems operations and can assist in troubleshooting both installation, operation, and service.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work on job sites, may be required to travel to and from job site locations, may work in a typical office environment, and is occasionally exposed to construction equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Confined space entry may be required. High work may be required.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Perform service and inspections based on NFPA 72 & NFPA 70 requirements.
- Perform troubleshooting and describe them to owners and service managers for repairs.
- Monitor and assure progress and completion of all assigned tasks.
- Ability to provide mentorship, guidance, and support to junior level staff as needed to complete projects according to deadlines.
- Utilizing following tools: Multimeter, Tone Generator, Battery Tester.
- Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
- Provide service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building codes.
- Having extensive service knowledge in common fire alarm panels/systems (Honeywell, Notifier, Fire-Lite, XLS, EST3, EST4, Silent Knight, Bosch, and Simplex).
- Complete SLC loop and NAC circuit issues.
- Basic knowledge of special hazards (FM-200, Novec, Fike).
- Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential product or system demonstrations.
- May perform inspections from man lifts at elevations of 30 to 40 feet from ground level, as necessary.
- Ability to obtain all required certifications (NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I and NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II).
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or a GED equivalent.
- 5+ years of Fire Alarm System service and inspections work experience required.
- Working knowledge of the operational characteristics of Fire Alarm Systems.
- Basic knowledge of following tools: Multimeter, Tone Generator, Battery Tester.
- Basic mechanical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- An understanding of computer operating systems, including the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
- Clear and concise ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Fire System service and inspections work experience required.
- Advance knowledge of the operational characteristics of Fire Alarm Systems.
- Advance mechanical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 101, NFPA 70, NFPA 25, IBC.
- An understanding of NFPA and other related fire and life safety codes.
- Certifications NICET Fire I and/or NICET Fire II.
- Certifications Edwards and/or Notifier.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, climb, walk, sit, push, pull, squat, crawl, and stoop. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, and type on keyboard; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The use of power tools will be required to effectively perform this position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet).
