Fire Protection Contractor seeks lead-estimator for full-time position.
This role requires an individual to estimate fire protection projects and submit bid proposals to the customer, ending ultimately in final negotiation/buy out with the customer in order to secure purchase orders
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Price and take-off equipment, specialties, sprinkler heads and associated piping from blueprints
- Responsible for creating estimates and developing bid proposals
- Communicate effectively with clients to aid in buy outs, submittal approvals, and approved change orders
- Inputting estimates in Estimating Software
- Willing to assist and seek out new software and propose ideas to upper management
- Assist Project Manager with kickoff of new job
- Assist Project Manager and team with clear understanding of recently bought jobs
- Assist Controller with contracts particularly with Scope bought out in bidding process
- Must be detailed oriented and able to thrive in fast-paced environment
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
- Demonstrate understanding of construction documents
- Background in HVAC/Insulation/Fire Suppression Estimating
- Ability to write in a clear business-like fashion
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
- Microsoft Office Suite and must be computer savvy
- Estimating Software savvy
- Review and understand all perinate bidding documents and specifications.
- Aid in the success of project procurement by preparing estimates for review.
- Must be able to layout code compliant systems and create a competitive quote.
- Possess a strong knowledge of NFPA codes and NYC codes
- Estimate design build projects, plan and spec projects along with conceptual budgets.
- Provide oversight on multiple project-estimates concurrently with ability to multitask.
- Maintain and update master bid list.
- Create fire sprinkler estimates/design/submittals
- Track proposals and follow up with clients to determine price competitiveness.
- Participate in the search and selection of project opportunities.
- Develop and maintain contractor and vendor relationships.
- Analyze past performance of estimates compared to completed work and develop processes for better estimates.
- Must possess reliable transportation for your daily commute to the office.
- Able to work independently or with others in a professional manner.
Job Requirements
Experience:
- Extensive knowledge of NYC Building Code, and NFPA 13, 72, & 25
- Extensive knowledge of fire protection systems and industry is required with at least 10 years in engineering or sales
