Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Fire System Inspector to join our security business unit.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections and functional testing of fire protection systems, including but not limited to:
- Fire alarm systems
- Testing and Compliance
- Acceptance Testing
- Reporting
- Document all testing results, deficiencies, and repairs in accordance with NFPA standards and company protocols.
- Generate clear and accurate inspection reports using company-provided software or tools.
- Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to bring systems into compliance.
- Communicate findings to clients and recommend solutions or next steps.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes and standards, particularly NFPA 72.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good working order.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
Job Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade school preferred
- 2+ years of experience (preferred) in fire system inspection, testing, or a related field
- NICET (preferred) certification in Inspection & Testing of Fire Alarm Systems and/or Water-Based Systems preferred
- Knowledge of applicable NFPA codes and standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
- NICET Level I or II
- OSHA 10 or 30
- State-specific fire alarm or sprinkler licenses (if applicable)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods
