A growing fire protection and specialty construction organization is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Project Manager to oversee multiple fire protection installation projects within large-scale, mission-critical data center environments.
This is a high-accountability, on-site position responsible for coordinating technical teams, managing project schedules and budgets, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring successful delivery from planning through final completion. The ideal candidate combines strong construction management experience with technical knowledge of fire suppression, fire alarm, and life-safety systems.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple fire protection projects from initial planning through closeout.
- Ensure projects remain aligned with approved scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and contract requirements.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, and installation plans.
- Coordinate the work of project teams, field supervisors, subcontractors, vendors, and other trade partners.
- Provide clear direction to on-site teams and resolve issues quickly to protect project milestones.
- Conduct site walks, inspections, and quality reviews to verify installation progress and compliance.
- Confirm compliance with applicable building codes, fire protection regulations, project specifications, and industry standards.
- Coordinate with clients, general contractors, engineers, inspectors, authorities having jurisdiction, suppliers, and internal leadership.
- Track project costs, forecasts, risks, opportunities, and overall financial performance.
- Prepare regular project updates and communicate schedule, budget, quality, and risk information to stakeholders and executives.
- Support estimating, procurement, equipment coordination, and project reporting.
- Help manage commissioning, testing, punch-list completion, turnover, and closeout documentation.
Technical Responsibilities
- Oversee work involving fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, and related life-safety infrastructure.
- Review plans and technical documents for constructability, coordination, and compliance.
- Apply knowledge of sprinkler, alarm, detection, clean-agent, and other specialized fire protection systems as applicable.
- Support interpretation and application of NFPA 13, NFPA 72, NFPA 2001, local codes, and project-specific requirements.
- Review construction documentation and help ensure systems are properly installed, tested, and documented.
- Coordinate testing records, inspection reports, commissioning requirements, and final turnover packages.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction project management experience.
- Experience managing fire protection, fire alarm, life-safety, mechanical, electrical, or related infrastructure projects.
- Background working on complex commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or data center construction projects preferred.
- Knowledge of construction estimating, contracts, project schedules, blueprints, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 72, and NFPA 2001.
- Strong understanding of fire protection installation, testing, inspection, and commissioning processes.
- Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, engineers, and internal leadership.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to and work at active construction sites.
- NICET Level III certification preferred.
