Pay Rate Range: $29.42-$53.00/hr

Location: Remote (Preference for CST or EST time zones)
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident required

Overview: Our client is seeking a skilled Fire Protection Engineer to join their team in a remote capacity. This role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in fire protection engineering across various exciting projects. Candidates must hold a PE license to practice in Alberta, Canada. While the position is remote, candidates should ideally be located in the United States within the CST or EST time zones.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct engineering activities, ensuring successful project execution.
- Conduct fire protection inspections, studies, and perform related design and calculations.
- Perform site surveys, identify code issues, and provide compliant solutions.
- Interpret and apply local, state, and federal fire protection and life safety regulations.
- Prepare and present technical audits, reports, and exhibits.
- Design fire suppression and alarm systems, and draft technical specifications.
- Handle multiple tasks, work with minimal supervision, and solve problems effectively.
- Occasionally visit construction sites for commissioning witness and As-Built verification, though no travel is currently required.
- Carry out and review fire protection engineering calculations, including smoke exhaust and evacuation analysis.
- Review and create architectural life safety code analyses based on IBC and NFPA 101.
- Review fire protection submittals for code compliance before submission to AHJs for permitting.
- Extract engineering information from CAD drawings, perform engineering computations, and prepare designs and material quantity takeoffs.
- Review supplier drawing submittals and perform technical bid analyses.
- Perform other related responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
Required Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge and certifications in ICC and NFPA codes and standards, including but not limited to NFPA 13, 14, 11, 15, 16, 20, 22, 24, 25, 2001, 70, and 72.
- Experience using Hydraulic Calculation software, such as HASS or AutoSPRINK.
Desired Skills:
- Proficiency in designing fire alarm, fire suppression, and life safety systems using Revit.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a related field.
- At least 3+ years of relevant work experience.
- PE license to practice in Alberta, Canada is required.
Additional Notes:
- No travel to Canada is required for this position.
- Candidates will not be required to sign engineering documents as a contractor.
