The Senior Safety and Compliance Manager for Logistics is responsible for developing and overseeing driver safety policies across multiple regions, guiding a team of managers to ensure compliance, accident prevention, and safe transportation practices. This role is ideal for a proactive, systems-minded leader with a strong background in safety strategy, training, and federal transportation regulations. He or she will oversee and direct a team of Managers towards the successful development and implementation of driver safety policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective driver safety operations throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions

- Collaborates with Management to establish, prepare and implement safety practices to ensure successful Delivery execution.
- Audit and review all regional driver training programs and ensure all operational activities are in compliance with all Federal, state, and local safety rules & regulations.
- Conduct weekly, monthly and quarterly safety meetings with Regional Safety Managers to include tractor-trailer and forklift best practice, accident response procedures, high risk activity and improvement areas.
- Coordinates OSHA, DOT and FMCSA compliance training for Regional Managers in coordination with Company Human Resources department and third-party consultants.
- Provides ongoing support, training and direction to Management team to ensure proper coaching of driver safety violations and new Driver training as needed.
- In collaboration with Human Resources, Company Safety Director and Logistics Director, works to administer quarterly and annual reporting under federal and state guidelines.
- In collaboration with the Company Safety Committee, oversees the Accident Investigation process for Regional Management.
- Performs routine review of Compliance, Safety and Accountability scores; Meets routinely with Regional Managers to develop programs to improve safety scores and reduce infractions, injuries, accidents, and other problem areas.
- In collaboration with Regional Managers, conducts new Driver training and oversees continuous education programs for all Company logistics employees.
- In collaboration with Regional Managers, ensures all routine vehicle maintenance is scheduled, performed and within safety compliance.
- Conducts regional safety inspections and audits to assess local compliance with safety regulations.
- Reviews accident and incident reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

- Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Extensive knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This is a managerial role which requires direct and effective oversight all Regional Safety and Compliance Managers including hiring, termination, coaching, and corrective action.
Work Environment
This job operates primarily in a professional retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, e-filing systems, and fax machines. The employee will be expected to work outside in all weather conditions and must have suitable clothing. They must have the ability and willingness to work in adverse conditions, not just including extreme weather but enclosed spaces. The employee will be expected to work around and with machinery that distributes loud noises and exhaust. Personal Protective gear is provided by the employer. This position does require handling and operating of heavy equipment which may introduce a high risk to slips, trips and falls.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. At times, this position may be expected to operate forklifts and must be able to get in and out of commercial trucks multiple times throughout the day. Must have adequate leg, foot, arm and hand control safely navigate vehicle inspections. While this position is sometimes sedentary, the employee may typically be required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the Logistics Director; though typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some weekend hours will be necessary to accommodate any issues that may arise.
Travel
This position requires 75% travel time.
Required Education and Experience
- 4+ Years managing safety in a Supply Chain / Trucking Environment.
- 4+ years’ Experience in DOT /FMCSA safety sensitive related field.
- Proficient in managing safety and maintenance through CMMS software.
- Proficient in Logistics Software
- Must be 19 years of age or older.
- Pre-employment background check, MVR and drug screening required.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience with turfgrass sod and seed in a retail setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or similar field.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) skills strongly preferred but not required.
