We are looking for an experienced Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer to join our team and contribute to energy-efficient building projects. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with a strong technical background and a passion for solving challenges. The role involves working closely with our engineering team throughout all project phases, from design to construction administration.

Responsibilities

- Design plumbing systems, including piping and equipment selection, as well as fire protection systems such as fire pumps and sprinkler layouts.

- Develop comprehensive fire safety plans, including fire alarm and suppression systems, along with necessary calculations, specifications, and project narratives for federal projects.

- Interpret and analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics, while addressing inquiries and reviewing designs electronically.

- Attend project meetings with clients, owners, and architects, offering guidance on energy

-efficient design solutions.

- Review contractor submittals and shop drawings to ensure compliance with contract documents and relevant codes.

- Employ standard engineering techniques to perform equipment research, pipe layout, and sizing calculations.

- Collaborate with other engineers and personnel to implement procedures, resolve system issues, and provide technical insights.- Evaluate design proposals and specifications for feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.

- Ensure system components align with engineering design and performance standards

.- Foster strong client relationships by addressing concerns and providing feedback to design engineers.

Job Requirements

Required Experience & Skills:
- Over 5 years of experience in plumbing and fire protection design.
- Familiarity with building life safety, fire, mechanical, and plumbing codes, including ICC Standards, NFPA Codes, FM Global, and Federal Standards (UFC, GSA, VA).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office.
- Strong communication skills and the willingness to travel for fieldwork.
- Knowledge of performance-based design for life safety and fire protection systems.
- Capability to oversee contractor activities during system testing and startup.

Education & Certification:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
