Position Summary:

This is an entry-level position, and we are willing to provide training for individuals who are eager to learn about fire alarm systems and security solutions. As a Fire Inspector/Service Technician, you will respond to service requests, test and troubleshoot fire alarm systems, and ensure that systems in commercial buildings meet safety standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, documenting your work, and continually learning about new products and systems. Strong organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Schedule & Availability:

  • 8-hour shifts.
  • On-call duties as needed.
  • Overtime and weekend availability may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

Experience:

  • Fire alarm: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Electrical troubleshooting: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)
  • FDNY COF S-97 or S-98 (Preferred)
  • OSHA SST (Required)

Ability to Commute:

  • Brooklyn, NY (Preferred)

Work Location: On the road

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to service requests for fire alarm systems.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and diagnose system issues and malfunctions.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace equipment as needed.
  • Conduct tests and inspections of fire alarm systems according to NFPA 72 standards.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports, work order tickets, and service documentation.
  • Maintain and organize truck inventory (parts, tools, and equipment) to ensure timely responses to customer needs.
  • Schedule and prioritize tasks efficiently, ensuring all inspections, repairs, and service requests are completed on time.
  • Learn and stay updated on new products, software, and system upgrades related to low-voltage security systems.
  • Collaborate with service management and customers to provide quality service and ensure customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and communication skills are a must.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple service requests and tasks simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented approach to documentation and record-keeping.
  • Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work at heights (using ladders, scissor lifts).
  • Basic electrical wiring and conduit experience (preferred but not required).
  • Experience with tools such as digital multimeters, network testers, and power tools (a plus but not required).
  • FDNY S-97 or S-98 Certificate of Fitness (a plus, or willingness to obtain).
  • OSHA SST certification

Preferred (but not required) Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of fire alarm system or CCTV troubleshooting experience.
  • NICET II Fire Alarm Certification.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 72.
  • Experience with security and fire systems from manufacturers like Mircom, EST, Silent Knight, Firelite, Bosch, Notifier, Honeywell, DMP, FCI
  • Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
