Job Description
Scutum is seeking an experienced sales professional to win and develop fire alarm, ARCS, and electronic security installation projects across commercial, residential, and government construction. In this role, you will partner with General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, MEP Consultants, Architects, Developers, and End-Users—managing opportunities from initial prospecting and solution development through proposal, negotiation, and close.
New York Metropolitan Area
- Base Salary: $95,000 – $115,000 (Negotiable)
- On-Target Earnings (OTE): $145,000 – $150,000
Chicagoland & Peoria, Illinois
- Base Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 (Negotiable)
- On-Target Earnings (OTE): $125,000 – $130,000

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Business Development: Develop new business, grow existing accounts, and pursue small to large, complex construction and installation projects.
- Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, architects, developers, and end-users.
- Solution Design: Identify client requirements, interpret blueprints/specifications, and apply value engineering to design competitive, integrated system solutions.
- Proposal & Pipeline Management: Prepare technical proposals, quotes, bids, and contracts; negotiate pricing to close profitable projects.
- Market Expansion: Actively develop new territories and uncover novel revenue opportunities.
- Internal Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with Accounting, Service, and Project Operations teams through project handover and delivery.
Job Requirements
Required Education & Experience
- Industry Experience: 5+ years of dedicated fire alarm and/or electronic security sales experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of fire alarm, ARCS, and electronic security systems. EST fire alarm and ARCS experience is highly desirable.
- Market Familiarity: Proven track record selling within commercial and residential construction markets, including reading blueprints, schematics, and scopes of work.
- Network & Sales Skills: Established capability prospecting, negotiating, and closing deals with General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, MEP Consultants, and Developers.
- Compliance: Solid knowledge of relevant Building Codes and NFPA fire alarm codes.
- Education: Two-year technical degree or equivalent life-safety/electronic security industry experience.
