THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELLSciens Building Solutions is seeking an Associate Fire Sprinkler Inspector to provide inspection and maintenance capabilities. This position will work closely with our sales team, field project teams, and clients to ensure our customers’ systems are inspected and maintained in a code-compliant manner. This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of executing projects. Customer and employee interface requires a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are important elements of the position.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)

  • Assist in reviewing system layouts and coordinating with the systems and service departments for successful project execution.
  • Follows all safety protocols and effectively uses/operates common hand tools and equipment.
  • Removes sprinkler heads using the appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Produce field surveys and daily project activity logs.  
  • Assist with inspecting and maintaining fire sprinkler systems.  
  • Produce detailed inspection and deficiency reports in accordance with NFPA.  
  • Assists in delivering projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
  • Responsible for logging and transmitting inspection reports via electronic devices.
  • Comply with industry standard procedures and Sciens safety programs/policies.

Job Requirements

WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Desire to enroll in the Sprinkler Fitter apprentice program and grow in the Fire and Life Safety Industry.
  • Basic knowledge of wet, dry, and pre-action systems, as well as backflows and fire pumps.  
  • Actively pursuing NICET and State required certifications.
  • Willing and able to utilize electronic devices and software for completion of inspection reports and other duties.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work independently with some supervision.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Customer-focused; skilled in project and people management.
  • Good organizational, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.
  • Ability to travel occasionally overnight, as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation.
