Responsibilities
Responsibilities for Mid-level Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer:
The successful candidate shall be able to work independently with minimal supervision from a Sr. Plumbing/Fire Protection engineer for tasks as follows:
- Development of Plumbing and Fire Protection Construction documents (drawings, specifications. calculations. etc.) using computer software for new and retrofit buildings/projects in the mission critical environment for review by Sr. Engineer.
- Experience with design of Plumbing and Fire protection systems in mission critical facilities.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously;
- Coordinate with other internal engineering disciplines to achieve successful, functional and innovative designs for our clients;
- Coordinate with other building disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, civil, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent;
- Assists with the development of job specific discipline specifications;
- Light travel for project meetings/site observations.
- Perform field survey to document existing conditions and/or observation of construction activities;
- Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats;
- Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software;
- Preparation of Contract Documents using Revit and AutoCAD software.
- Create technical drawings, plans, and specifications for review by Sr. Engineer
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors
- Ensure project timelines are met and project stays within budget
- Able to travel to project sites
Job Requirements
Qualifications for Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- EIT/PE a plus
- 5+ years’ experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems, Mission Critical design experience a plus
- Strong computer skills and skilled in software typically used in plumbing/fire protection design (i,e. hydraulic calculations).
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office programs; Revit Experience is a must;
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
- Must be self-motivated and know project design steps/requirements
- Excellent organization and planning skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals;
- Strong working knowledge of building, plumbing and fire codes;
