The Fire Sprinkler & Fire Alarm Inspector is responsible for performing building sprinkler and alarm inspections including testing devices, recording and generating results, and providing reports. Duties include collecting data and generating any necessary paperwork (Sprinkler/Alarm Inspection Reports, Quick Reports, and Inspection Certificates).

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure that all service and inspections are completed in a timely manner and that they are done accurately and thoroughly.
  • Testing of all building sprinkler/alarm control panels, devices, and functions of the sprinkler/alarm system and documenting the test results.
  • Upon completion of an inspection, generate an Inspection Report.
  • Provide on-call services on a rotational basis for after-hours customer needs.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Other Duties:

  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education/Qualification: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems. Stay current with code requirements, and industry changes, and obtain NICET certifications.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and be customer service oriented.
  • Must be able and willing to work within a team environment.
  • Sprinkler and low voltage system experience and/or alternative suppression system experience.
  • Proficiency in using sprinkler and alarm trade equipment including sensitivity test equipment, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communicating devices.
  • Comfort utilizing computer systems.
  • Ability to read prints and plans.
  • Ability to test and qualify for applicable licenses.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the office or job site.
  • Must be punctual. Being on time is critical due to the need to perform sound tests prior to building tenant arrivals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Industrial, Commercial, & Residential building environment with moderate to high noise levels, and comfort with working at heights
  • Mostly a physically demanding role. Most of the daily demand is standing and walking stairs and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and/or squat frequently and for long periods of time.
  • Ability to repetitively grasp, push, pull, and manipulate fine objects with hands.
  • Ability to reach and perform work above shoulder level frequently and for long periods of time.
  • May need to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to be on the phone and computer consistently throughout the day.
