Fire and Life Safety Director

Ensure building compliance with NYC Fire Safety Codes. Clean and maintain Praxis-managed or owned SRO buildings and properties. Monitor hallways and other public areas.

Responsibilities

A) At all times on duty, making certain that the hotel is in compliance with New York City Fire Safety Codes ( e.g. , checking all building exits, etc.)B) Holding fire drills when scheduled.C) Serving as point person and directing other staff in event of fire emergency.D) Maintaining Z-50 license.E) Buffing, sweeping, mopping, housekeeping of residential rooms, common areas and bathrooms.F) Cleaning common areas and bathrooms with appropriate cleansers and in compliance with OSHA and Universal Safety precautions.G) Answering telephone at front desk, distributing telephone messages, distributing mail, and securing resident signatures on weekly EPU sheet prior to deadline.H) Receiving hotel visitors and directing them to the appropriate party. Ensuring that all visitors comply with house rules and visiting hours.I) Responsible for reporting inventory of supplies to Building Manager.J) Distributing personal items and linen to residents.K) Light painting and touch-ups in residents’ rooms and in public areas.L) Assisting renovations team or building Superintendent with higher-skill level repairs when directed.M) Assisting residents by following emergency protocols to secure needed assistance from police, fire, or ambulance services.N) Entering information about visitors, visiting employees, social service partners, police, fire, or ambulance services into front desk log book.O) Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

Education/ Certification:

Experience:
F84 - Fire Safety Director and F-89 certificates. GED, or pursuing an educational plan to obtain GED within 6 months of employment.

Some experience in building maintenance.

Skills:

Must be able to perform building maintenance duties, lift objects, stand for extended time periods, follow emergency protocols, and comply with applicable OSHA and Universal Safety Precautions.
