To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable individual to join our team as a Safety Monitoring Analyst. The Safety Monitoring Analyst supports the daily management, administration, security, and operation of the Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA) and Line Operations Safety Audit (LOSA) programs. The successful candidate will have experience with safety report processing, root cause analysis, project management skills, and a strong work ethic. This position reports to the Manager, Safety Programs.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Support the daily management, administration, security, and operation of the FOQA and LOSA programs
  • Support aircraft data downloading and analysis, computer systems management, and conducts analytical projects assigned by the Manager, Safety Programs
  • Support the Manager, Safety Programs with daily administration of the FOQA and LOSA programs for the purpose of improved flight safety
  • Oversee the FOQA data collection process of the aircraft fleet in conjunction with Maintenance and Engineering
  • Work with state-of-the-art software and hardware for data collection and analysis
  • Perform data and root cause analysis of digital flight data to determine adverse events or trends in flight and maintenance operations
  • Coordinate the development, verification, and validation of aircraft specific event definitions
  • Program new FOQA events
  • Prepare flight operations trending analysis for the FOQA Management Team
  • Compile and present FOQA and LOSA data summaries to senior management, regulators, pilots, and partner carriers
  • Assist LOSA Observers in conducting and recording LOSA flight deck observations
  • Compile LOSA observation data for review by the LOSA Data Review Team
  • Maintain FOQA and LOSA databases, write database queries, and manage documentation supporting these functions
  • Coordinate with other airlines FOQA and LOSA departments, governmental and academic institutions regarding FOQA and LOSA
  • Create and distribute awareness material for line employees to further airline safety
  • Present safety data at regularly scheduled line employee training classes and internal safety meetings

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Experience with safety report processing and root cause analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Project management and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a positive attitude toward teamwork
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management and support staff
  • Ability to multitask, set and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in aviation, science, or engineering field
  • Work experience, preferably in 14CFR Part 121 air carrier operations; quality control, maintenance, operations, safety - or a combination thereof
  • Basic computer programming and statistical methods experience
  • Prior experience with Safety Reporting Systems
  • FAA Pilot Certification: Private, Commercial, or ATP
  • Previous auditing and/or safety investigation experience            
  • Academic Safety Education/Training

Work Environment:

  • Airport ramp environment, subject to varied weather conditions and elevated noise levels
  • Standard office environment, use of computers and other office equipment
  • Work weekends, nights, holidays and/or irregular shifts as needed
  • Extensive travel required

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds

Employment is contingent upon a clear driving record, 10-year Criminal History Records Check, and drug screen as required. We also require proof of high school or GED completion. Minimum 18 years of age.
