Safety & Training Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and enhancing safety training within the organization. This role includes developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, creating training videos, completing pre-qualifications for jobs, and ensuring that all employees adhere to safety policies and procedur

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Safety Programs:

- Design and implement comprehensive safety programs that comply with local, state, and federal regulations. - Conduct regular assessments of workplace hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks.

Safety Training Development and Delivery:

  • Create engaging safety training videos and materials for employees covering various topics, including emergency procedures, hazardous materials handling, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • Plan and conduct live safety training sessions and ensure all employees are aware of safety protocols and procedures.

Pre-Qualifications for Jobs:

  • Complete pre-qualification documentation for new projects or clients, ensuring that all safety requirements and standards are met.
  • Collaborate with project teams to review safety requirements and prepare necessary documentation for bid submissions and project starts.

Monitor Compliance:

  • Perform regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, incident reports, and compliance activities.

Incident Management:

  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, or illnesses to determine the root cause and recommend preventive measures.
  • Maintain and report on safety-related incidents and trends.

Coordinate Monthly Safety Training Topics:

  • Lead or participate in safety committees, ensuring that employee representatives are involved in safety decision-making processes.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and follow up on action items.

Regulatory Liaison:

  • Serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies concerning occupational health and safety matters.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory bodies as needed.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements in safety training, and changes in safety regulations.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to safety policies, procedures, and training materials.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, CSP, or CHST) are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a safety-related role
  • Experience with safety audits, inspections, training delivery, and content creation (e.g., training videos).
  • Experience in preparing pre-qualification documentation for job bids or project initiation.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Proficiency in video creation software and training content development.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform site inspections, including walking, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based with regular visits to company offices and job sites.
  • May require overnight travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Possible exposure to hazardous environments requiring the use of PPE.
