As an Electrical Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. You will ensure that systems are compliant with local codes and regulations, and that they function properly to protect lives and property.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Installation:
  • Install fire alarm systems, including control panels, detectors, and notification devices, according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to understand system requirements and site-specific conditions.
  • Maintenance & Repair:
  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire alarm systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with existing systems, performing repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Document service and inspection reports, including findings and recommendations for improvements.
  • Compliance:
  • Stay updated on local and national fire codes and regulations to ensure all work meets compliance standards.
  • Assist in preparing for inspections by fire marshals or other regulatory bodies.
  • Customer Service:
  • Communicate effectively with clients to explain system functionalities, maintenance needs, and upgrades.
  • Provide training and support to clients on the operation of their fire alarm systems.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, and inspections.
  • Prepare detailed reports for management and clients regarding system performance and recommendations.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in fire alarm systems preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 1-10 years experience in fire alarm installation and maintenance.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid SST card
  • NICET certification in fire alarm systems preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and fire alarm technology.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments (e.g., ladders, confined spaces).
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

  • Work may involve travel to various job sites.
  • Hours may vary based on project demands, including potential on-call responsibilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
