GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
As the Associate Security Manager for the Met Cloisters you will assist the Senior Security Manager and Manager to oversee all aspects of security management. You will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, security, and seamless operation of the Met Cloisters building, along with ensuring the well-being of its staff and visitors.
You will demonstrate proficiency in security systems, adeptness in administrative tasks, effective personnel coordination, incident response protocols, and familiarity with fire safety regulations.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILIES & DUTIES:
  • Oversee and monitor the Cloisters security systems, including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and alarm systems, to promptly identify and respond to security incidents.
  • Assist with the daily administrative operations of the Met Cloisters Security Operations, including scheduling and procurement of security equipment and supplies. Verify timekeeping and payroll reports, correcting discrepancies, and liaise with the Manpower & Logistics Office, Payroll, and Human Resources departments for necessary adjustments.
  • Coordinate daily schedules and assignments of Supervisors, briefing them on changes to post assignments and Security Officer schedules.
  • Maintain gallery coverage at all times, tracking requests for time off and responding to emergency situations, callouts, and absences to ensure continuous security operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, and corrective actions taken.
  • Assist the Senior Manager and Manager to develop and update security policies, procedures, and training materials in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide relevant training to the Frontline Security Team
  • Assist the Senior Manager and Manager with regular briefings and meetings with the Frontline Security Team.
  • Coordinate with relevant internal departments and external agencies to ensure swift and effective response to incidents.
  • Conduct post-incident evaluations and implement improvements to enhance overall security and safety measures.
  • Provide first aid and medical assistance to visitors and staff during emergencies.
  • Generate and maintain Cloisters Security Operations Center daily and security incident reports within Kaseware.
  • Collaborate with local emergency medical services to facilitate timely medical response when needed.
  • Assist the Senior Manager and Manager to ensure compliance with fire safety standards through regular inspections, drills, and staff training.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for absences and unscheduled callouts.
  • Any duties as assigned by the Chief Security Officer, Deputy Chief Security Officer, and Senior Manager for Met Cloisters Security Operations.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Experience in security operations, preferably in a museum or similar cultural institution environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and support the Senior Manager in achieving departmental goals.
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices, standards, and regulations, particularly in the context of cultural institutions or museums.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and respond quickly and decisively to security incidents.
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures and incident management protocols.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and under sometimes ambiguous circumstances.
  • Highly responsive and proactive, able to own tasks from start to finish.
  • Must be willing to work on a shift schedule (including weekends, holidays and non-business hours) and have flexible availability. This includes the ability to work an extended schedule during crisis periods.
COMPENSATION RANGE:
  • Pay Range: $78,000.00 - $80,000.00 / Annually

The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.
Location Requirements
At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
