Job Description
A Fire Alarm Field Service Technician II at Honeywell provides intermediate-level on-site support focused on fire alarm systems, life safety systems, and integrated building automation platforms. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and supporting fire alarm systems, including Honeywell platforms and integrated BAS environments such as Tridium Niagara and EBI.
You will work directly at customer sites to ensure fire alarm system reliability, code compliance, and optimal performance of life safety systems, while delivering high-quality customer service in a field-based environment.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Perform 2+ years of hands-on troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and maintenance of fire alarm and life safety systems
- Diagnose and resolve issues in fire alarm panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, and integrated BAS systems (Tridium Niagara / Honeywell EBI)
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance across 3–5 customer sites per week (varies by territory)
- Support system testing, inspections, and verification in compliance with NFPA 72, local AHJ requirements, and Honeywell standards
- Install, configure, and assist with upgrades or modifications to fire alarm and integrated control systems
- Serve as the primary technical contact for daily service calls, troubleshooting, and emergency response support
- Maintain accurate service documentation, inspection reports, and compliance records using CMMS or Honeywell systems
- Ensure 100% compliance with safety standards including OSHA, LOTO, and arc flash requirements
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and service teams to resolve escalated technical issues
Job Requirements
YOU MUST HAVE
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 2+ years of field service experience in fire alarm systems, life safety systems, or low-voltage electrical systems
- 2+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting fire alarm panels, devices, and system wiring in commercial environments
- 1+ year of experience with fire alarm or integrated building systems (Honeywell Notifier, Silent Knight, Fire-Lite, Gamewell-FCI, or equivalent)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 75+% to customer sites
- 1+ year of customer-facing field service experience in fire alarm, security, or BAS environments
- Strong troubleshooting ability with experience independently resolving system faults in the field
- Basic proficiency with laptops, mobile devices, and service reporting tools (CMMS or equivalent)
WE VALUE
- NICET Level I or II certification in Fire Alarm Systems (preferred or attainable within 12 months)
- 1+ year of experience working with Honeywell fire alarm platforms such as Notifier, Silent Knight, Fire-Lite, Gamewell-FCI, or XLS systems
- 1+ year of experience with BAS integration platforms such as Tridium Niagara or Honeywell EBI
- Knowledge of NFPA 72 inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements (1+ year preferred)
- Experience with special hazard systems such as VESDA, clean agent, pre-action, or suppression systems (1+ year preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, and fire alarm system schematics (1+ year experience)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (preferred or obtainable within 6 months)
- Strong communication skills with proven ability to support multiple customer interactions daily (3–6 service calls depending on territory)
- Ability to work independently and manage field workload with minimal supervision
