Position: Senior Fire Alarm Designer
Location: Tampa, FL (Relocation considered for qualified candidates)
About the Role:
On behalf of our valued client in the Tampa area, we are seeking an experienced Senior Fire Alarm Designer. This role is ideal for a highly skilled professional with a strong background in large and complex fire alarm projects who is looking for an opportunity to grow into a leadership position. While fire alarm design expertise is preferred, we will also consider seasoned professionals with significant experience in other Fire Protection Systems.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Design and layout fire alarm systems for large-scale and complex projects, ensuring compliance with NFPA, local, state, and federal codes.
- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and submittals using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field technicians to ensure accuracy and constructability of designs.
- Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning.
- Mentor and guide junior designers, with the potential to step into a formal leadership role.
- Coordinate with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) for approvals and inspections.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- 7 years of fire alarm system design experience (NICET Level III or IV in Fire Alarm Systems strongly preferred).
- OR significant experience in other Fire Protection Systems with the ability to transition into fire alarm design.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and related design software.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and local building/fire codes.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication and leadership skills; experience mentoring or leading a team a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or related field preferred (but not required).
