Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Fire Protection System Design & Analysis: 🛠️
- Lead the design, layout, and specification of fire protection systems, including fire suppression, alarm, detection, and smoke control systems.
- Perform hydraulic calculations, assess fire risks, and develop fire protection strategies tailored to client needs.
- Provide performance-based design and engineering analysis for unique project requirements.
- Code Consulting & Compliance: 📋
- Serve as a subject matter expert on fire and life safety codes (e.g., NFPA, IBC), ensuring that all designs meet applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Offer code consulting services to clients, providing guidance on code compliance and alternative solutions where needed.
- Interface with local authorities and regulatory agencies to gain approvals and resolve code-related issues.
- Project Management & Client Interaction: 🤝
- Manage multiple fire protection engineering projects, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and client satisfaction.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and understanding of project objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Conduct site assessments and inspections (as required) to verify system installations and compliance.
- Technical Leadership & Team Collaboration: 👥
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and design staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.
- Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines (e.g., MEP, structural) to integrate fire protection solutions seamlessly into overall building designs.
- Participate in internal and external project review meetings, contributing insights on fire protection design and best practices.
Job Requirements
- 🎓 Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 🏅 10+ years of experience in fire protection engineering, including design, code consulting, and project management.
- 📜 Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection Engineering required.
- 🔥 Deep knowledge of fire and life safety codes (NFPA, IBC) and experience in performance-based design.
- 💻 Proficiency with hydraulic calculation software, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- 🗣️ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused mindset and experience in leading project teams.
