
Environmental Health And Safety Manager
Job Description
The Manager, EHS will develop and implement safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and corporate requirements for chemical operations. The EHS manager will assist departments in maintaining ongoing compliance for both existing and new or modified processes.

The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $215000.00/yr.

This is a fully onsite position in Charlotte,NC.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Provide EHS expertise to the site for identifying and advising on potential safety/health hazards or environmental concerns and assist in developing and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure implementation of the EHS division and corporate improvement process goals.
- Lead the site culture to eliminate all injuries and regulatory Notices of Violation (NOVs).
- Participate in cross-functional EHS audits of company facilities and ensure adequate follow-up and remedy for identified issues.
- Drive the development and implementation of formal and informal audit and assurance processes.
- Ensure site activities comply with all applicable regulatory permit requirements (air, water, waste, etc.).
- Enable safe work practices and environmental responsibility, ensuring compliance with EHS policies, procedures, and awareness programs.
- Manage site security to ensure effectiveness and compliance with DHS guidelines.
- Oversee the site nursing staff to ensure proper proactive and post-incident care for all employees.
- Coordinate or lead investigations and corrective/preventive actions of significant incidents or near misses to identify and solve root causes.
- Collaborate with site leadership to develop tools and techniques to help managers, engineers, and other employees manage change to mitigate safety impact.
- Work globally with other HR business partners to align solutions with business needs.
- Forecast and control expenses, and implement plans to ensure budget, cost, and schedule commitments are met.
Job Requirements
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in occupational safety, environmental health, engineering, or physical sciences.
- Familiarity with a range of continuous and batch chemical manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of US safety and occupational health regulations (OSHA) and EPA regulations.
- Experience in safety incident classification, investigation methodologies, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to develop and conduct training for both technical/management and operator levels.
- Working experience with risk concepts, including classification from consequence and frequency estimates, risk-based decision making, and cost-benefit analysis.
- Knowledge of occupational safety programs, including behavioral-based safety management, incident reporting, job task surveys, and ergonomics.
- Familiarity with process safety management systems, including MOC and other elements of the OSHA PSM standard.
- Experience with the technical aspects of process safety – P&IDs, interlocks (SIS), emergency relief systems, fire/explosion suppression systems, and quantified risk assessment.
- Previous leadership experience in Environmental Management and Compliance, including air, water, waste management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- CSP and Environmental certifications preferred.
- Experience in media training or similar experiences highly preferred.
- Strong facilitative leadership abilities to enable the organization to achieve EHS objectives.
- Experience with Hazard and Risk assessment, process safety, environmental compliance, OSHA, emergency response, contractor management, management systems, and incident investigation.
- Experience managing EHS auditing initiatives, including conducting risk assessments and ensuring adherence to laws and regulations.
