
Fire Alarm Designer and Project Coordinator
Job Description
The Fresno, CA District Office of Cosco Fire Protection is seeking a motivated and technically capable Fire Alarm Designer & Project Coordinator to support the continued growth of our A&D (Alarm & Detection) Division.This is a growth-oriented dual-role position designed for an individual who is developing strong fire alarm design capability while also supporting project coordination and departmental operations. The right candidate will play a critical role in helping build scalable systems, strengthen internal coordination, and support technical execution as our division expands in the Denver market.This role reports directly to the A&D Operations Manager and offers clear growth potential as the division continues to scale.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Design & Technical Responsibilities:
- Develop fire alarm system layouts, riser diagrams, device placement drawings, and perform battery and voltage drop calculations.
- Prepare and organize submittal packages for AHJ review and permitting.
- Review construction drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with NFPA 72 and applicable codes.
- Assist in material takeoffs and bill-of-material development.
- Maintain drawing revisions and support as-built documentation.
- Work closely with Sales and Operations to validate scope and ensure technical accuracy.
- Project Coordination Responsibilities:
- Serve as coordination link between Sales, Field Technicians, Superintendent, and Operations.
- Track project milestones including submittals, approvals, permitting status, and material release.
- Support project turnover from sales to operations with organized documentation.
- Assist with change documentation and internal communication flow.
- Participate in internal coordination meetings as needed.
- Assist with administrative project coordination tasks including document uploads, submittal tracking, and support for pay applications.
- Department Support Responsibilities:
- Assist with permitting processes and AHJ submission tracking.
- Support parts ordering and inventory coordination.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation standards.
- Provide administrative and coordination support to ensure project execution remains efficient and structured.
Supervisory Responsibilities:This role has no direct reports but will provide coordination support to field personnel and assist in technical guidance when needed.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- 2–5+ years of fire alarm field, design, or coordination experience required.
- NICET certification preferred. NICET Level III is a plus; candidates actively working toward certification are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and related life safety codes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar drafting software) required.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Bluebeam experience preferred.
- Field installation or service experience strongly preferred.
