Immediate need for a Fire Life Safety Engineer who will perform design engineering and system design by working closely with all MEP disciplines to ensure a well-coordinated design.
Responsibilities
- Produce clear and concise drawings consistent with client requirements and standards
- Conduct field surveys, system assessments, and system commissioning
- Perform calculations under the supervising engineer
- Apply codes and standards to all designs including working drawings and specifications
- Perform code interpretation
Job Requirements
- Solid knowledge of fire protection systems design on various projects
- Proven experience in Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, VESDA, and Clean Agent system design
- Experience in the development of Fire Safety and Emergency Action plans, Fire Protection plans, and Fire Safety Evaluation Systems
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Fire Protection, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in Fire Protection and Fire Alarm systems design
- Knowledge of ICC, NFPA, and local codes (NYC codes preferred)
- NICET certification in Fire Alarm or Fire Protection systems PREFERRED or ability to obtain one within three years of hire
- Ability to work independently or part of a team effectively
- Open to traveling to various project locales
- Proven experience using AutoCAD - MEP
- Possess strong communication skills
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection/Fire Alarm, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering required
