We are seeking a full time Safety Technician to support the staff in our 200 employee operations department. Chesapeake Containment Systems is an operationally focused environmental services firm specializing in the solid waste, power and industrial markets. We are a leader in the geosynthetics installation industry, and the company was founded in 2007. While our headquarters are in Statesville, North Carolina, we work on jobsites in multiple states, primarily in the Southeast region of the United States.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers and Field Superintendents with all safety related tasks
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, company, and customer safety policies and procedures on projects
  • Conduct field safety audits
  • Assist in the development and delivery of regulatory and company required training
  • Assist in conducting incident investigations
  • Work with operations leadership and field personnel to identify potential hazards and controls and work with our contractors and clients to address safety concerns
  • Assist in preparing and conducting weekly safety toolbox talks
  • Significant travel is required at times throughout the year

Job Requirements

Required

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Experience using and applying Safety Management Systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations
  • Experience developing regulatory compliance programs and training
  • Experience with injury case management and return to work procedures
  • Establishing sustainable systems for compliance and continuous improvement


Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or a related field.
  • Bi-lingual English-Spanish highly desired
  • CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) /STSC (Safety Trained Safety Certified)
  • OSHA 510 / OSHA 30 / CPR Training Certification
