Responsibilities

The Fire Alarm Inspector is a full-time, on-site role based in St Paul, MN, responsible for performing inspections, testing, and verification of fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures. Day-to-day tasks include conducting scheduled inspections at client facilities, documenting findings, identifying deficiencies or code violations, and preparing clear, accurate inspection reports. The Fire Alarm Inspector will coordinate with clients and internal teams to schedule inspections, explain findings, and recommend corrective actions or system improvements. The role involves working with a variety of fire alarm panels and devices, maintaining tools and test equipment, and ensuring proper documentation for regulatory compliance and service records. This position also supports a culture of safety, professionalism, and customer-focused service while representing Brothers Fire & Security at client sites.

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of fire alarm systems, components, and basic electrical principles, including reading and interpreting plans and schematics.
  • Experience performing inspections, testing, and maintenance of life safety systems in accordance with NFPA, local codes, and industry standards.
  • Strong skills in documentation, report writing, and recordkeeping to clearly communicate inspection results and recommended actions.
  • Effective communication and customer service abilities to interact professionally with clients, property managers, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently in the field, manage schedules, prioritize multiple inspections, and follow safety procedures.
  • Relevant certifications such as NICET in Fire Alarm Systems or equivalent credentials are highly beneficial.
  • Prior experience in fire protection, security systems, or building systems inspection is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to client sites in the St Paul, MN area and surrounding region.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training in fire protection, electronics, or related fields is an advantage.
