Environmental Health Safety Specialist

Responsible for ensuring that Aplix complies with all environmental and safety regulations. Support the business in its efforts to become environmental stewards, striving for goals such as sustainability, lower carbon emissions, and reducing waste.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including those set by OSHA & the EPA

• Follow regulatory reporting requirements

• Conduct safety compliance audits

• Implement internal policies to support employee health and safety; train employees

• Investigate work-related incidents/injuries to problem solve and document root cause and corrective actions; implement training to prevent recurrence.

• Implement environmental sustainability programs

• Assess, evaluate, quantify and prioritize EHS risks for the organization and develop action plans for ensuring all significant risks are controlled and managed as part of the operational controls defined within the EHS management system and APLIX processes and procedures

• Oversee that implementation of EHS programs are done in a methodical way, involving input from relevant stakeholders

• Contribute to the company’s annual sustainability report, incorporating environmental performance metrics and KPI’s

• Spearhead the environmental data collection project utilizing Toovalu software

Job Requirements

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field

• Certified Safety Professional

• Minimum of 5-7 years of EHS experience, with demonstrated excellence in safety

• Safety and/or Quality Lead Auditor certification (preferred)

• Knowledge of industry regulations

• ISO 14001 experience a plus

• Manufacturing experience in the industry (strongly preferred)

• Strong communication, collaboration, and team building skills required.

• Ability to provide innovative solutions

• Must have a high level of interpersonal skills in interacting with employees at all levels of the organization.
