Seeking a detail-oriented Life Safety & Fire Protection Code Consultant to perform on-site code compliance assessments in healthcare facilities. The role involves traveling to hospitals to evaluate existing buildings for compliance with life safety and fire protection codes, documenting deficiencies, and producing accurate, well-organized deliverables that support compliance and corrective action.

Work EnvironmentThis role involves both fieldwork and office work, with structured travel usually alternating one week in the field and one week in the office. Travel within Indiana and Ohio is expected, and costs are reimbursed. Weekend work is rare unless necessary for travel. The quiet and relaxed office is located on the west side of Indianapolis in a business park, focusing on fast-paced production. The team typically works in pairs to ensure accuracy, and the candidate should ideally have a vehicle capable of holding a 6-foot ladder.Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $33.65/hr.

  • Travel to hospital and healthcare facilities to conduct on-site life safety and fire protection code compliance reviews.
  • Review architectural drawings, building design documents, and life safety plans to understand existing building features and code-required elements.
  • Inspect building conditions in the field and identify features that do not comply with applicable life safety and fire protection codes.
  • Photograph observed code deficiencies and clearly document each violation with written descriptions tied to the supporting images.
  • Compile findings into organized documentation that communicates code issues clearly and professionally.
  • Color-code and label life safety and fire protection drawings to accurately reflect required code elements and observed conditions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Interest in fire protection and life safety systems.
  • Strong communication skills for direct interaction with contractors and clients.
  • Ability to climb ladders and access tight spaces.
