Fire Sprinkler Designer / Junior Engineer
Job Description
Fire Sprinkler Designer / Engineer with a minimum of 2 years experience in the fire sprinkler contracting industry. The qualified candidate will have knowledge in the fire sprinkler installation industry and will possess the ability to design and work on daily ongoing projects and complete them in a timely manner. Business hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Overtime available.

Responsibilities
Successful applicants should also possess:
- The ability to identify deviations from bid to execution and the need for change orders
- A sense of responsibility required to review work and execute on a timeline
- The ability and/or experience supervising other engineers; as well as train junior engineers
- The understanding of field conditions and how they impact the work
- Comprehension of designing systems in accordance to code, which are cost effective
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
- Familiarity with NFPA 13, NFPA 14 and NFPA 20 codification and requirements
Job Requirements
Applicants should have a working knowledge and experience with:
- Designing fire sprinkler systems in their entirety, including standpipes, Siamese and FDC connections, valve lay-out and pump set-ups, riser placement, main supply and branch lines, and the use of different sprinkler heads
- Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems
- Detail the design for fabrication, prepare stock lists, cut sheets and prepare installation drawings
- Experience using SprinkCAD and/or AutoSprink (or similar software), HydraCAD, and Calculation Programs
- Extensive, comprehensive knowledge and use of AutoCAD
- Performing site visits and identifying field conditions not in accordance with design parameters
- Executing walk-throughs before, during, and after construction
- Job close-out including the assembly of as-built drawings
- Knowledge of working with threaded and mechanical fittings within the scope of design
- Working with 2D and 3D modeling of buildings and sprinkler system
- Coordination with customer and other trades/companies
- BIM Software and Coordination experience a plus
